Breakfast

A breakfast smoothie of one small banana, a handful of frozen blueberries, the juice of two oranges and a spoonful of organic yoghurt.

One tablespoon of flax seeds, pulverized in the old coffee grinder.

Blended until as smooth as possible.

Learning to like breakfast again.

I'm LOL! I just left a comment on your previous post. "Learning to like breakfast again?" I see you are chastened, too. : )

Stunning color here. What a lovely way to start the day. I'm usually just Greek yogurt, berries, and the ground flax, so I must try this and liven things up a bit!

With an idea like that, I might start to like breakfasts again too! (Although I love breakfast as long as there's good bread and unsalted butter involved.) Think the problem is I don't like healthy breakfasts. Unless I'm in Asia and someone in a beautiful hotel has prepared a plate of immaculate tropical fruit for me!
Could I use flax oil instead of seeds?

Chastened indeed...a smoothie is the easiest thing in the world to make though. Even I can make that kind of effort!

That purple is a fabulous way to start the day Amanda. And easy. That's all important in my book.

Good butter is essential Stephanie, unsalted for sure. French if possible. What a snob I am...must say that if someone presented me with a fruit plate like that I'd be more than happy to accept it too! Flax oil would be great - especially with bananas.

Beautiful, beautiful breakfast Lucy - a perfect start to the day. Lots of fruit and a good dose of those Omega 3s!

We are on the same wavelength - I've been drinking smoothies every day at the moment, in mid-morning. Today's was a peeled nectarine (not organic), some organic raspberries and sweetened coconut milk (called "coconut drink" at the Chinese supermarket). The spoonful of evening primrose oil was a mistake, though - it was all I could taste!

How could anyone not like breakfast?

Sorry, someone had to ask that, so it might as well be me.

Reading this I realised that breakfast is the dullest meal of my day. May have to do something about this...
Gorgeous colour.

Well Kathryn, I must say that breakfast is fast becoming a favourite meal!

Rosa, I've never tasted evening primrose, but I imagine it would be very overpowering. Sigh. I want nectarines too...

Excellent question Shula. Reckon it's just a meal that I end up kinda forgetting about. I seem to eat either the same boring muesli or rice cakes with vegemite. Your recent breakfasts have been INCREDIBLE.

Colour Wendy, makes all the difference I reckon. Mine is so often dull too. And yet it's the first meal of the day. Worth making more of a fuss about methinks!

Lucy I am not a breakfast person but I need to be and you have just inspired to have a fruit smoothie, that way, I have something nourishing to start my day. Thank you. Yours looks thick, creamy and flavourful.

Yum yum! This is what I should have for breaky everyday, not tones of caffein injected to my system...

Your blog is wonderful, Lucy. I can always feel the peace here, even at dead end of the day. :)

Lovely coloured smoothie - and seems perfect for breakfast - I love my breakfasts (actually can't function in the morning without food first) but need to get a bit more fruit back in my breakfasts, so this is a good idea!

Hi Lucy! I come to visit you through Amanda's site. Lovely photos and I enjoy your simple text underneath some of your photos.
I was lucky to visit your country some years ago for 2 weeks. It was a trip of a life time for me. I was lucky to stay in Sydney and visit Hunter Valley wine tasting for a day with friends. Then was off to Darwin and then Alice Springs. Awesome country!

Cythnia, it is all of those things, but it's the unthinkably easy preparation that makes it perfect!

Anh, you do make me laugh! I'm sure it would sit nicely next to a strong espresso or three...

And Truffle, it takes care of your daily fruit requirements in one fell swoop.

Hi Sylvia - anything that colour must be good for you!

Sometimes it's hard to convince yourself to cut up fruit in the morning, isn't it Johanna?

Amanda, you are lovely to think of Nourish Me. Am truly honoured. Your kind words will be with me all day...

Welcome Winedeb - I know, I'm a lucky sod, aren't I? Originally I'm from Sydney, so am not surprised you enjoyed it so much. You must visit Melbourne next time. Better food and even better wine (sorry Mum!).

Hi Bee - purple in the morning can only be a good thing.

Thanks Jenn!
